Cities of South - 13 Days/ 11 Nights
Travel to four of the most famous cities in Latin America: Santiago, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Rio de Janeiro! Santiago is a very sophisticated city, famous for its gourmet food and the best wines of South America. Enjoy the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires, the “Paris of South America”, with great restaurants, museums and sensual tango show. Take a ferry ride across the De la Plata River to reach Uruguay. Montevideo has its pleasing charm expressed on its Old and Modern part of the city. Experience Rio de Janeiro’s unique and relaxed life style, its legendary strand of beaches-Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, the famous Sugar Loaf Mountain, and Corcovado Christ. Perfect for the city lovers!

 

Day 01 - Depart from the U.S.
Day 02 - Arrival in Santiago, transfer to your selected hotel. Afternoon city tour visits Santa Lucía hill, where the conqueror Pedro De Valdivia founded Santiago, for a panoramic view of the city, while enjoying the hill's vegetation and the architecture of Hidalgo's Castle. Afterwards, visit the beautiful New York Street, the Stock Exchange, the Government Palace, and the main historical buildings such as the National Library, the Court House and the former Congress.
Day 03 - Full day excursion to Vina Del Mar, the main seaside resort. Visit modern buildings, as well as the well-kept parks, gardens and Valparaiso, the most important Port of Chile. Stop at a restaurant overlooking the sea for lunch. Then Valparaiso, declared world heritage thanks to the picturesque architecture of its 44 hills, and their characteristic elevators, 15 of them still working. (BL)
Day 04 - Half-day Concha & Toro Vineyard, Chile's largest wine producers and winner of many prizes in international fairs. Visit the Casona de Pirque, the family mansion of the Concha y Toro family, and experience the wine production process while walking through the vineyards, learning about the methodology and materials used. Day 05 - Flight to Buenos Aires. Evening Tango show and dinner with drinks. Enjoy a special “porteño” music night at one of the best tango places, where typical songs and dances are performed. An excellent dinner with local wines and dessert is included. (BD)
Day 06 - City tour visiting May Square, Government House, Cathedral, Boca District, upscale Recoleta area and pause at the Recoleta Cemetery where Eva Peron is interred., & Colon Opera House. Drive along the widest street in the world, 9 of July, to the famous Colon Opera House. (B)
Day 07 - Full day tour of the countryside, visiting a working farm and the unique opportunity to have a close contact with the Argentine Gaucho, taste typical meat pies and wines, wander around the farm or ride horses. Lunch includes: pork sausage, beef with salad and “pastelitos” a typical gaucho dessert. After lunch, the gauchos provide entertainment in the form of music, dancing and singing. For the daring ones, there will be time to ride a criollo horse. (BL)
Day 08 - After Breakfast: Full Day tour to Colonia del Sacramento,one of the most popular tourist towns in Uruguay. It is a ferry ride across the Río de la Plata from Buenos Aires and features historical gems like the oldest church in Uruguay, the only Plaza de Toros (bull ring) in Uruguay and a historic center with a fortress and contraband port that are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It features lovely Portuguese architecture dating back to the late 1600s and streets lined with sycamore trees. Transfer to Montevideo for overnight at selected hotel. (BL)
Day 09 - City tour: Divided into old tow and new town; this capital city features beaches, colonial plazas, outdoor cafes, and a plethora of restaurants, nightclubs and casinos. The Ciudad Vieja is being refurbished. Cultural attractions like the marvelous Teatro Solís just off the Plaza de la Independencia and museums are a highlight in Montevideo. The Museo del Gaucho y de la Moneda in the Edificio Banco de la República features the interesting history of the Uruguayan gaucho cowboy.(BL)
Day 10 - Flight to Rio de Janeiro. Afternoon city tour, world famous beaches and the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Ride along the world-famous beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, circling the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and proceeding to the "Maracanã", one of the world's largest stadiums. Visit the modern Cathedral, passing by the Flamengo Park and the World War II Memorial. The grand finale of the tour: a thrilling cable-car ride to the top of the Sugar Loaf, 395 meters above the city, and a breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay. (B)
Day 11 - Scenic ride to the Corcovado and Tijuca Forest. From the train station ride to the Christ Redeemer statue overlooking the city’s beaches and mountains. Drive to the Tijuca Forest, with stops at Taunay’s waterfall & Mayrink’s chapel. Easy 1-hour trek thru the forest: see different types of tropical fruits, trees, animals such as monkeys and sloth and various kinds of birds and butterflies. Return by the ”Loneliness dam” towards Sao Conrado, watching the hang-gliding flights. City tour, world famous beaches and the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Evening typical Brazilian BBQ dinner and fabulous samba show. (BD)
Day 12 - Optional day tour of tropical islands on a schooner cruise or a half-day visit to Petropolis (B)
Day 13 - Transfer to airport for return flight to the U.S. (B)
