Falklands - 10 Days/ 9 Nights
In the vastness of the South Atlantic Ocean, a remote archipelago of almost 200 islands, islets and rocks known as The Falklands / Malvinas, is actually a fascinating wildlife paradise. The Falklands host a large number of marine birds and mammals, such as southern elephant seals, South American sea lions and 5 species of penguins. For visiting this fascinating islands we’ll fly from Punta Arenas, in southern Chile and visit some of the most interesting locations, connecting them on Islander crafts of the local FIGAS’ airlines.
Day 01 - Punta Arenas: Arrive in Punta Arenas and transfer to hotel for overnight.
Day 02 - Mount Pleasant - Darwin House: Darwin House offers comfortable surroundings and excellent cuisine using local produce. Prettily located at the northern end of the Darwin harbour and with excellent views of Mount Usborne whichwas the principal centre of farming activity in the Islands in the 19th century.(BD)
Day 03 - Pebble Island: Transfer to Goose Green for flight to Pebble Island , the fourth largest island in the Falklands. Its diverse terrain offers vast white sandy beaches, moor lands and rocky peaks, an extensive area of ponds and wetlands, and dramatic coastal cliffs. Thousands of Gentoo, Rockhopper and Magellan penguins breed on Pebble Island each summer. Overnight at a traditional Falkland farm house. (BLD)
Day 04 - Pebble Island: Day at leisure to explore the island. Overnight. (BLD)
Day 05 - Sea Lion Island: Take a flight with the Falkland Island Air Service to Sea Lion Island. Welcome and transfer to the nearby lodge. The Island is home to 49 species of visiting or nesting birds, at times up to 5 species of penguins. The beaches host the major Elephant Seal breeding population of the Falklands: South American Sea Lions bread beneath the cliffs. Overnight stay at Sea Lion Lodge. (BLD)
Day 06 - Sea Lion Island: Day at leisure to explore the island. Overnight stay at Sea Lion Lodge.(BLD)
Day 07 - Port Stanley: After breakfast, fly back to Port Stanley. The afternoon is at leisure. Stanley has several attractions to offer which can be discovered easily on your own. The capital of the Falkland Islands is a bright picturesque town overlooking the harbour. There is an excellent museum dedicated to the heritage of the islands and a self-guided maritime history trail. Overnight stay at the Malvinas House. (B)
Day 08 - Port Stanley: Full day excursion to Volunteer Point: After breakfast you will start a full day Land Rover excursion to Volunteers Point; one of the very few places to spot King Penguin colonies outside the Antarctic. You will enjoy this amazing wildlife experience. Overnight stay at Malvinas House (BL)
Day 09 - Port Stanley: After breakfast: transfer in regular coach to Mount Pleasant International Airport for LAN Chile flight to Punta Arenas. Arrival and transfer to hotel. (B)
Day 10 - Punta Arenas: Transfer to the airport for your flight back to U.S. or next destination. (B)
