Archaeological Gems Of Machu Picchu & Kuelap - 10 Days/9 Nights
Peru is blessed with a rich and ancient past and a vibrant present. This very comprehensive program tours Chiclayo, Sacred Valley and Kuelap. Visit Cuzco, the colonial city built on the foundations of the Inca palaces, fabulous Citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the most renowned examples of Inca architecture. This is an impressive exploration!
Day 01 - Arrive in Lima, transfer to selected hotel.
Day 02 - Flight to Chiclayo and drive to Northern Peru, crossing four different Peruvian departments: Lambayeque, south Piura, the North of Cajamarca and arriving in the late afternoon in the cloud forest of Chachapoyas. Box lunch and dinner included. Overnight. (BLD)
Day 03 - Visit the colorful funeral buildings of Revash with box lunch and on to Leimebamba, with a collection of pre-Inca mummies discovered in the Laguna de los Condores. (BLD)
Day 04 - Visit Kuelap, a spectacular pre-Inca walled city hidden atop a precipitous mountain. Return to Chillo for overnight. (BLD)
Day 05 - After an early breakfast return to Chiclayo by road then fly to Lima for overnight. (BL)
Day 06 - Lima/Cuzco/Yucay. Early morning flight to Cuzco. Guided tour of the Sacred valley, the colorful village of Pisac, which represents a typical Andean town with its traditions and customs and the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo that guarded the Inca Empire from the fierce jungle Indians . Overnight. (BL)
Day 07 - Machu Picchu guided tour with lunch and overnight. One of the most renowned examples of Inca architecture, Machu-Picchu is believed to have been built in the mid 15th century by the Inca Pachacutec. Surrounded by lush cloud forest the mist shrouded mountaintop creates a mystic atmosphere. (BL)
Day 08 - Day at leisure to further explore the ruins or climb Wayna Picchu. Return to Cuzco and overnight. (B)
Day 09 - City and nearby ruins tour: amazing colonial city built on the foundations of the Inca palaces, Koricancha or Temple of the Sun, Plaza de Armas and Cathedral, Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, temple of Kenko and Tambomachay, known as the "Baths of the Inca". (B)
Day 10 - Flight to Lima. City tour of the modern and colonial areas of Lima well-known as the “City of the Kings”. Visit the Plaza Mayor (Main Square), founded in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro, conqueror of Peru, Government Palace, City Hall, the Cathedral and the House of "El Oidor". Continue to other colonial architectural jewels, such as Torre Tagle Palace and Osambela House. (B)
