Belize Grand Discovery - 8 Days/ 7 Nights
Join us on this soft adventure journey, exploring Mother Nature's best kept secrets while hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, sea-kayaking, swimming and snorkeling. Explore the intriguing mix of tropical forests rich with wildlife, majestic mountains, mysterious Maya temples and the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere. Hike the trails of Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve, with its beautiful waterfalls, pools and many caves. Pack your hiking boots, swimming gear and camera and allow our experienced tour guides to take you on a memorable journey.

 

Day 01 - Arrival in Belize City and transfer to your Cayo area hotel.
Day 02 - Full day tour the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, explore Rio Frio Caves and Rio On bathing pools. Visit the Maya site of Caracol, the largest and most impressive temple at this site is still the highest structure in the country. Lunch included. (BL)
Day 03 - Full day tour of Rainforest Medicine Trails, walking along well defined trails, see plants and herbs once used by the Maya and still used by Belizeans today for medicinal purposes. Next stop is the Che Chem Ha Cave site in the Vaca Falls area. This cave contains enormous Maya pottery untouched for thousands of years. (Note: Rigorous 30-minute uphill trek to cave. Physical fitness required). (BL)
Day 04 - Xunantunich & Barton Creek Caves. Board a 19th century hand-cranked ferry across the Mopan River to the Maya ruins of Xunantunich and climb to the top of “El Castillo”, the largest of the temples at this site, for a panoramic view of the Cayo District and nearby Guatemala. Next, we continue to Barton Creek Cave in Amish territory. Equipped with canoes/kayaks and high-powered lights we gently paddle into Xibalba, Maya for underworld. Stalactites and Stalagmites hang high overhead as we float past impressive calcite crystals(BL)
Day 05 - Safari Ride at Peccary Hills National Park & Inland Waterways. Peccary Park is set in the rainforest and rolling hills of this quaint village once inhabited by the Mayas. Board your safari-type vehicle for a leisurely tour of rainforest trails, caves once inhabited by the Mayas, jungle river and swamps to arrive at the Northern Lagoon Beach. Board river boats back to the Belize City docks. This tour is ideal for viewing wildlife in natural habitats. Arrival in Belize City and check in at hotel for 3 nights accommodation. (BL)
Day 06 - Lamanai & New River. Departure to the Northern Highway to board a river boat a traveling down the New River, where orchids, bromeliads and wildlife abound: hawks, kites and falcons, dainty Jacanas lightly walking on the lily pads while the crocodiles bask in the morning sunlight. Arrive at the ruins of Lamanai, where huge masks depicting dead rulers and gods seem to materialize out of the rainforest amid the chatter of birdlife and the haunting call of the Howler Monkeys. Return to hotel. (BL)
Day 07 - Morning departure by motor boat to the nearby Manatee breeding grounds, believed to be the “mermaids” many sailors talked of. Then to Goff’s Caye, Belize’s Great Barrier Reef. Snorkel off the pristine sandy beach or swim in cool waters, or relax under a palm tree. A beach picnic lunch and refreshments are served. (Snorkel equipment included). Return to hotel. (BL)
