Guyana Nature Experience - 14 Days/ 13 Nights
Visit Guyana's number one attraction: Kaieteur Falls, surrounded by virgin forest and wildlife and the Orinduick. Hike to Turtle Mountain for the breathtaking views over the forest canopy, trek to seek the elusive Jaguar and cross the savannah and through the rainforest to the Burro Burro River to observe wildlife and birdlife. Discover the fabulous nature of Guyana.
Day 01 - Arrive in Guyana. Transfer to Georgetown. Overnight at Cara Lodge.
Day 02 - Today enjoy a trip to Kaieteur and Orinduik Falls. Overnight at Cara Lodge. (BL)
Day 03 - Transfer to Ogle Airstrip for a flight across the rainforest to Annai. Afternoon free to explore the trails around the field station with an Iwokrama Ranger. After dinner, river cruise to spot caiman and other nocturnal wildlife. Overnight at Iwokrama River Lodge. (BLD)
Day 04 - Making an early start we will embark on the Essequibo. After breakfast, you will leave the field station for the journey to Turtle Mountain. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the forest. On the return trip, visit Kurupukari Falls to see the Amerindian petroglyphs. Overnight at Iwokrama River Lodge. (BLD)
Day 05 - After breakfast we will transfer you along the trail that is one of the best places to see the elusive Jaguar. No promises, but many have been lucky! The journey ends at the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway which allows you to view the forest from 35 M up in the canopy. Overnight at Atta Rainforest Lodge. (BLD)
Day 06 - After breakfast travel to a trail in the Iwokrama Forest to hopefully see the amazingly brilliant Guianian Cock-of-the-rock. Continue your trip onto the Amerindian village of Surama. Learn about the medicinal plants and their uses in the Amerindian culture. Overnight at Surama Guest House. (BLD)
Day 07 - Breakfast will be served at a lookout point which affords incredible views across the village and savannah to the Pakaraima Mountains. Take a three mile walk across the savannah and through the rainforest to the Burro Burro River.Overnight at Surama Guest House (BLD)
Day 08 - After breakfast depart Surama for the Rupununi Savannah. Overnight at Rock View Lodge.(BLD)
Day 09 - At dawn take a hike in the foothills of the Pakaraima Mountains on the Panorama Trail where you might see Cinereous Mourner and Yellow-billed Jacamar. Overnight at Rock View Lodge.(BLD)
Day 10 - After breakfast transfer to Ginep Landing for a boat trip on the Rupununi River to Karanambu Ranch. This is the home of Diane McTurk, widely known for her work in rehabilitating orphaned, giant river otters to the wild. Overnight at Karanambu Ranch.(BLD)
Day 11 - Diane sometimes has resident orphaned otters and you can help her as she tends to them. Explore the Rupununi River in search of wild Giant River Otters, Black Caiman and Arapaima. Overnight at Karanambu Ranch.(BLD)
Day 12 - This morning travel out onto the savannah to search for a Giant Anteater. After lunch transfer by boat, birdwatching along the way, to the Amerindian village of Yupukari and Caiman House. Overnight at Caiman House. (BLD)
Day 13 - This morning we will have some time to visit the village, to learn about their way of life. After an early lunch take a flight back to Georgetown. Enjoy an afternoon Georgetown city tour. Overnight at Cara Lodge.(BL)
Day 14 - Transfer to the airport for your departing flight. (B)
