Adventure in the Highlands and Tikal - 9 Days/ 8 Nights
Whether you're looking for a unique adventure, breathtaking scenery, luxurious relaxation retreats, high excitement activities or cultural stimulation, Guatemala has it all! Towering volcanoes, a dense tropical rainforest, pristine lakes, ancient Mayan ruins, indigenous culture, and Spanish colonial architecture.

 

Day 01 - Arrival in Guatemala and transfer to Antigua for overnight
Day 02 - Half-Day tour of Antigua, a beautiful blend of ruins, restored colonial buildings, and new buildings in colonial style. Visit the Central Plaza, that is surrounded by the antique Cathedral, the Municipal Government Building, and the Palace of the Captains General. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight. (B)
Day 03 - Half-day introduction to folk art & textiles. Tour Museums & Markets. (B)
Day 04 - Travel to Lake Atitlan, visiting the countryside, one of the most beautiful in the world, with its crystalline-azure waters in the crater bowl below. Overnight Lake Atitlan. (B)
Day 05 - Boat tour to explore the villages surrounding the lake. (B)
Day 06 - Full day tour of Chichicastenango and visit the most colorful Indian open-air market in the country. Hundreds of Indians from the surrounding countryside gather to barter their goods and produce.Also, witness the captivating religious ceremonies held on the steps and inside the 400-year old Church of Santo Tomas. Transfer to Antigua. (B)
Day 07 - Flight to the northern rainforest. Explore the rainforest of the Peten with ancient Mayan temple sites. Overnight in the rainforest. (BD)
Day 08 - Return to Tikal National Park for a guided day tour. Visit the “Q” Complex, the Great Plaza, squared off with the pyramids of the Grand Jaguar and the Masks, the Palace of the Nobles, and Pyramid IV. This one is the highest of the Mayan pyramids, from its top a complete view of Tikal and its surrounding jungle can be enjoyed. Flight to Guatemala City and overnight. (B)
Day 09 - Transfer to airport for departure flight. (B)
